MIRACLE - NOUN. AN EXTRAORDINARY EVENT MANIFESTING DIVINE INTERVENTION IN HUMAN AFFAIRS.
The Lord sustains them on their sickbed, and restores them from their bed of illness. Psalm 41:3
People let me tell ya 'bout my best friend! Boy, I often dote on this dude because he is the bestest uncle a chick could have. I contribute a portion of who I am today, to him. He is a living testimony and a walking miracle. His story is not mine to tell, but I can share how God honored my prayers that literally saved his life.
He was living with me and my daughter in our small two bedroom apartment. He had been sick as a dog for over a week. We thought it was some sort of flu or stomach bug that just wouldn't get right, but he progressively became worse and he began to look like death was standing at his bedside.
Death: I come in peace.
Me: Oh, no you don't!
My uncle refused my repeated attempts to take him to the hospital, but just as I was leaving out for work my morning, something in my spirit wasn't right. As I reached for the door knob, my spirit was like, “hold up!”, and I did.
I went back to him and demanded he go and go at that very moment. I wasn't thinking on niece/uncle terms, I was thinking about the terms of life and death. He complied.
The ER was overcrowded and had no rooms, but they took him back right away and made him a space in the hallway. After numerous docs checked him out, they left us sitting there, waiting. Fluids had backed up in my uncle’s body, leaving him with about 90% hearing loss. The doctor convened in the room on the other side of the wall where we were sitting and discussed his case with his colleague. I’ll never forget what I heard as they discussed their findings and his prognosis:
I can’t explain how this man is alive. He’s a nice gentleman and I hate that we can’t help him. He needs to be airlifted immediately because there is nothing we can do here. If he makes it through the night…
Wha'choo talkin' bout Willis?
I looked at my uncle and he looked at me with this weak smirk on his face. Poor thing, he couldn’t hear one word they said, but I could and I did. My heart fell, but instantly, I went into faith mode. I began to pray for God to heal him and save his life. I began to reject the spirit of death. I called my mom, to let her know her brother was being airlifted to a more advanced hospital, but I didn’t tell her what I heard. I couldn't tell her that her baby brother was at the point of death.
She passed the message throughout the family and I stayed with my uncle until he was transferred. The doctors came back and told him what the findings were and the steps that needed to be taken. The road ahead was going to be tough, but first he had to make it through the night. He was sick.
Fast forward to today, eleven years later and he doesn’t look like what he has been through! He doesn’t smell like smoke from the fire he stood in (Psalm 41:3). He is alive. He is healed.
I know there is a God! Period.
He answers prayer and responds to faith (James 2:20). Period. Period.
Truly, there was a divine manifestation that took place the day the doctors said my uncle was going to die. That day, the doctors couldn't explain why he was still living, walking, and talking. That day, God answered a prayer. He answered my prayer.
There is nothing God can't do. He can heal a body and cause life to remain in a dead situation. He can repair organs and do incredible things beyond medical science. God is amazing.
People, let me tell you 'bout my best friend! He's a living, walking, talking miracle!
