TRUST - Noun. Firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.
Trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:4
May 2016, I decided that my daughter and I were going to take a big leap from good ole' Delaware county, better known as Declo to its proud residents, to Montgomery County. County moves are
a big deal 'round here.
I wasn't financially ready to make a move and I had no idea where to go. I only knew it was time, whether I understood it or not, I had to trust God and start packing.
My first priority was to seek out the top school districts in the state, with the lowest taxes and best home value. In the thought of wanting to move, it was excitedly in my spirit to buy a house...whoa...slow down homegirl! This was the first time I ever wanted to buy a house. One minute I didn't, the next I did. It happened just like that. That's how I knew it was the Lord, because it wasn't ever a desire I had.
I prayed and sought God's direction, and landed in the quaint time of Ambler, Montgomery County. I had sweet memories of the area from college. My TU days! The school district was top notch and the real estate market was super hot. God perfectly orchestrated everything from beginning to end. It started with me taking a drive through the community looking for "For Rent" signs. Yes, I took it back to the old school!
While turning in and out of neighborhoods, my car began to give me trouble. I had taken the 45 minute drive from my house with no problem, but out the blue, my car needed attention that forced me to leave, immediately.
As the scary loud screeching came from my car, I made a u-turn to head back to the highway and the tiny twin caught my eye. It was adorable and it had a for rent sign in the window! I copied the number down, called, scheduled a viewing, met and had a chat with the owner. He already had a deposit from someone and there was another family ahead of me if the first applicant didn't work out. Which they didn't. He had chosen to return the deposit due to unfavorable results on their background check. And the other family? I don't know. Well, maybe I do. The favor of God touched the owner's heart and he chose me and my baby girl to occupy the unit.
The owner said, "if you want it you can have it. There's something about you. I like you." He didn't run a background or credit check. He didn't know me but that "something" he saw, was the glory of God.
I told him I wanted the house but what I didn't tell him was that I didn't have the two months security deposit to hold the home. I trusted God - that's what I do. The Lord knew what I had and He blessed me with the house, so I had to wait to see how He was going to work things out.
The owner called me a week after I confirmed I wanted the home. He told me he was going on vacation for two months. Two months? Baller! He said I needed to get the security deposit to him before he left that week.
I needed to say something, but before I could say a word, he did. He told me to drop the check off and he would hold the it and wouldn't deposit it until he returned AND he would give me the keys that same week to move in. "No worries." he said.
Did you read what I just wrote? The man told me that he was going to hold my check for two months, but give me the key to move into the home.
First - I can't wait until God positions me to go on vacation for two months, OK!
Second - I can't wait until I can be a boss and bless people financially like that. Hold your check. Pay me later. Bye!
Won't God work it out?
Oh, yes He will.
I moved into that cute little house, my daughter started school in one of the top school districts in PA, and I didn't experience a tough financial hardship like I expected. As we settled in our home, I told my daughter that we weren't going to unpack everything, because we would only be there for one year, because we were going to buy a house. What in the world was I saying?
I had no idea how it was going to happen, but I spoke by faith and released it in the atmosphere. Exactly twelve months later, I closed on our very first home. I can't wait to share that story!
Trust God and look for Him in everything and everyone. I prayed blessings upon blessings on the owner. I prayed for his business, his finances, his family, and his health. God touched his heart and used Him to bless me and my daughter and open the door for the next chapter in our life. I will always be grateful. My mom moved into that cute house after we moved out. I referred her and they both were blessed. She got a home and he didn't have to go through looking for a tenant all over again.
The Lord will position people along life's path to specifically and strategically bless you. He will assign individuals to your need, and He will use the least expected person to open a door for you. You never know how someone is connected to your destiny. The Lord knows what you are dealing with and before you stress, he has already spoken to unexpected hearts to bless you.
I love you Lord!
